LET'S BRING PROJECT HBCU TO YOUR CAMPUS
Every campus has its own culture, challenges, and student experiences. At Our Lens, we believe mental health programming should reflect the students it serves.
Through Project HBCU, we partner with colleges and universities to create culturally relevant experiences that bridge the emotional gap through interactive activities, peer-to-peer conversations, and everyday mental health skills.
Let's create an experience that meets your students where they are.

OUR APPROACH
College is more than academics. It’s a journey of identity, independence, belonging, and self-discovery. But while students are preparing for their futures, many are still carrying experiences from their past.
From Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and generational patterns to family expectations and everyday stressors, what students carry can shape how they navigate relationships, manage emotions, respond to challenges, and seek support.
At Project HBCU, we help students unpack their bags by creating space to explore how their lived experiences influence their emotional well-being. Our goal is to bridge the gap between academic success and emotional wellness through culturally relevant, relatable conversations that encourage reflection, connection, and growth.
We bring a family reunion-style experience to campus, where music, interactive games, creative expression, and peer-to-peer conversations create an atmosphere of familiarity, community, and belonging.
Because we believe mental health conversations don't always have to begin in a clinical setting. Sometimes, they start over a game of Jenga, through a familiar song, or simply by hearing someone say, "I've been there too."
We're not just bringing mental health awareness to campus. We're creating spaces where students can unpack what they carry, connect through shared experiences, and build the everyday skills to move forward.
01. RELATIONSHIPS BEFORE RESOURCES
We build connections before asking students to open up.
Mental health conversations feel different when they come from people who look like you, sound like you, and understand your experiences. We create welcoming spaces where students can connect through shared experiences, build trust, and have real conversations without judgment.
02. CULTURE CREATES CONNECTION
We make mental health an experience, not another presentation.
We're not just setting up a table and handing out resources. We bring the energy of a family reunion to campus through music, interactive games, creative expression, and culturally relevant conversations. We stay connected to student culture, making mental health education relatable, engaging, and something students genuinely want to experience.
03. CONVERSATIONS THAT CREATE CHANGE
The event ends. The impact doesn't have to.
Our goal goes beyond awareness. We help students unpack what they carry, recognize how lived experiences shape their behaviors, and build everyday skills to navigate life's challenges. By normalizing conversations before a crisis begins, we aim to reduce stigma, strengthen peer support, encourage help-seeking, and contribute to suicide prevention on campus.
WE BRING THE ENERGY. WE CREATE THE CONNECTION. WE START THE CONVERSATION.
Mental health doesn't always have to be introduced through sadness, struggle, or crisis. Sometimes, it starts with laughter, music, and a shared experience that opens the door to something deeper.
That's the Project HBCU experience.
